Growing up, the artist's incessant need to bring to witness events by writing, drawing, photographing and collecting everything – it was an urge she often tried and usually failed to ignore. Working both in past and present environments, she starts with something she loves or cannot release and transforms

it into another context. Her grandmothers - one an English Iris and the other a Serbian-Russian Doll - were a highlight of her formative years and regularly took a starring role in Nia’s pictorial storybook of her life. It was a matter of preservation! Not focussing on one means or living a one-dimensional life - she finds her medium is everything - what she sees and how she feels, all go into what is picked up, searched for and crashed into. From polaroids, printmaking, projections and beyond to anything she can get her hands on! Whatever form it takes, the work remains immediate, charged, and deeply personal.
