Drawing on frameworks that challenge anthropocentricity, such as Anima Mundi, Camille Auclair’s work engages with spirituality and science to explore two inseparable yet juxtaposed strands of human existence: the material body and ethereal consciousness.

She focuses on cycles of fragmentation, dissociation, and re-embodiment following trauma, working from the premise that this rupture is mirrored in a wider separation of humans from nature, craft, and spirituality in a modern society marked by collective disembodiment. Her work functions as a site of reconstitution, reflecting on how to reshape relationships between ecology and the body.

Camille’s work begins with a close study of nature. She develops drawings from observation and imagination, collaging them into compositions that operate as essences of place. These form the basis for works built through subtly layered surfaces using coloured pencil, watercolour, gouache, oil paint and oil pastel creating images that feel both familiar and alien.
