Abigail works predominantly in acrylics, pastels and oils, in a figurative style which often borders on the abstract. Adept at working in many different media, including collage and mono prints, her work is best described as painterly and atmospheric. Relishing the physical qualities of her materials, Abigail uses sponges and rags to move paint around freely when making larger pieces, making use of the accidental, while displaying a lightness of touch when building up delicate layers of watercolour or pencil.

Resulting artworks can be recognisable depictions of her chosen motif or may lean towards a more personal response in which composition, colour and texture take precedence. Inspiration comes from natural forms and landscapes, whether urban or rural, and particularly from the transformative effect of light.

Her process is rooted in observation; her strength as a draftsman and eye for detail lends everyday subjects an unexpected weight and invites the viewer to slow down and share the world as she sees it.
